TISA
a self taught artist who throughout more than 25 years' national and
international
experience has been exhibited in more than 25 national and
international
solo and group exhibitions. His works are
included
in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, Art Institute of
Chicago,
National Museum of Art, Visual Arts Workshop, Walker Art Center,
Cleveland
State University and Harvard University. He has provided creative
services
to a variety of private, non-profit and governmental organizations
including
the Academy for Educational Development, CARE International, AFRICARE,
Digital Sisters, Educational Development Center, Helen Keller
International,
International Voluntary Services, Inc., Institute for International
Research,
Peace Corps, Johns Hopkins University, Salvation Army, The Manoff
Group,
UNICEF, University Research Corporation, United States Agency for
International
Development and VISTA/Americorps.
Benedict is the recipient of two New Jersey State Council of the Arts Fellowships, a New Pictorialist Society Fellowship and the R.R. Watson Award to Filmmakers. He served as an Artist-in-Residence in Camden County, New Jersey. Articles and photographs have been published in Africa Report, African Technology Forum, American Photographer, Appropriate Technology for Health, Photography, DEROS Poetry Journal, Development Communication Report, International Nutrition Communication Service, Institute for Food and Development Policy, Poetry Today, and UNESCO. Benedict served four years in the US Navy, was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Ivory Coast and a volunteer with International Voluntary Services in Bangladesh and served two years as a VISTA vounteer in the District of Columbia.
